If your pet is experiencing an emergency, please call Dr. Lavine immediately. After your discussion with Dr. Lavine, he will determine if your pet would be better treated at a veterinary hospital rather than a house call. It is our objective to make sure your pet gets the best and most appropriate veterinary care as soon as possible. If we are not immediately available, we can help arrange an appointment with a local veterinary hospital or 24 hour emergency center. If your pet is seen at a local hospital or emergency center, we will stay in communication during their care and following discharge.
Many emergencies can be treated at home including vomiting, diarrhea, coughing, sneezing, lethargy, anorexia, limping, nausea, weight changes, and ear, eye and skin problems. In home care for sick patients includes full physical exams, diagnostics, laboratory services, treatments such as medication and fluid administration, pain control, and dispensing of medication.
If your pet is experiencing a life threatening emergency or you cannot reach VetCierge, please bring your pet directly to an animal hospital. Examples would include unconsciousness, active seizures, trouble breathing or major trauma.
