Chief Veterinarian

Dr. Jeffrey Lavine

VetCierge was created by Dr. Jeff Lavine in 2013. He saw the need for a high-quality personalized veterinary house call practice in the New York City community. Our pets are truly family members and Dr. Lavine’s goal for VetCierge is to bring back the lost art of the family veterinarian, focusing on personalized care from the comfort and convenience of your own home.

VetCierge’s goal is quality of care versus quantity of patients. Dr. Lavine believes in personalized in-depth care for his patients, because every patient is special and every situation unique. This mentality has created very strong bonds between Dr. Lavine, his clients, his patients, and the community. Over his years of practicing veterinary medicine, Dr. Lavine has developed a strong interest in preventative care, canine and feline medicine, dentistry and hospice care. Dr. Lavine attends local and national conferences, participates in local professional organizations and studies industry journals to stay current with all the latest veterinary knowledge to ensure your pet receives the best care.

Originally from northern New Jersey, Dr. Lavine attended Emory University in Atlanta, GA where he graduated with a B.S. in Neuroscience and Behavioral Biology. He continued traveling south to attend the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine. After graduation, his trek back north started with a rotating medicine and surgery internship at Friendship Hospital for Animals in Washington, DC, a 24-hour general, emergency and referral hospital. Dr. Lavine stayed on as an associate veterinarian in general practice and emergency medicine at Friendship Hospital after his internship. For the last few years, Dr. Lavine worked as an associate veterinarian at a prestigious small animal and exotic veterinary hospital here in New York City.

Dr. Lavine’s wife, Elyse, is an emergency medicine resident at St. Luke’s – Roosevelt Hospital. They share an apartment on the upper west side with a Leopard tortoise, saltwater fish tank and Labradoodle named Kayla.
